What it counts that a phone call misses
Sizing the stove to the room
The tool works out the heat the room needs from its volume and the age of the house. Open-plan rooms need more. It prices a stove to match.
Air vents and CO alarms
The air vent is worked out from the stove size and the age of the house, then added. A CO alarm goes on every wood or gas fire.
No chimney, or a blocked one
A good chimney is swept and lined for one price. A blocked fireplace is opened up. With no chimney, the tool prices a flue by route and length.
Reaching the top of the flue
One storey is a ladder. Taller houses need a cherry picker or scaffold, depending on whether a platform can get close.
